Market Seafood is a family-run business started in 2008 by Brian and Mary Plunkett. Brian a European-trained Chef, who has worked at the Four Seasons Hotels and the Calgary Golf and Country Club. He was also a Culinary Instructor at SAIT. Brian and Mary have been joined at Market Seafood by another two chefs – Grant Franchuk and Keith Goodale. They both have a passion for the seafood business and providing exceptional customer service. You will always find at least two of us behind the counter ready to help customers.
We have a wealth of product information and are happy to assist you in selecting a great cut of fish. We can also give you pointers on how to cook and serve our products.
We take pride in knowing our customers. Many we greet by name and we often know their favourite fish to serve.
We have Calgary’s largest selection of fresh fish and seafood. We source our products from all over the world, however most of our fish comes from the Pacific and Atlantic coasts of Canada. We also get weekly shipments of fresh fish from the cold water surrounding Iceland. We are an Ocean Wise partner and believe in sustainable seafood program helps to ensure that ocean life will be abundant for generations to come.
In 2017, we added turkey, veal and chicken to our counter. You will find items like chicken cordon bleu, veal schnitzel, chicken spatchcock and turkey patties. These items are fully prepared, they just need to be cooked and enjoyed.
Our crab cakes made fresh daily. They are great simply prepared in olive oil, served with a salad and drizzled with Sriracha aioli.
