The Cucumber Man: Alf’s Place Greenhouse est. 1968
My great grandfather started growing greenhouse produce in Holland early last century. My grandfather continued this family tradition upon immigrating to Canada and The Cucumber Man; Alf’s Place Greenhouses was born in 1968. This company has been in the family ever since.
Today, we pride ourselves on fresh, local, wholesome produce with an emphasis on herbicide and pesticide free vegetables. We pick fresh every week to be one of Alberta’s finest producers of cucumber, tomato and pepper varieties, as well as specialty products such as basil, super sweet beans, wheatgrass and lettuce greens.
We have a large customer base who have followed us from market to market over the years and we intend to continue providing them with the outstanding quality they have come to expect from The Cucumber Man. Our recent exposure over the last 5 years has seen that customer base expand exponentially. Our goal is to introduce as many people as we can to the concept of fresh, wholesome, local produce and let them discover why so many people are turning away from imported, big-box food.
