Lone Pine Colony

The Lone Pine Colony is located near Stetler, Alberta.
Sam Kleinsasser brings the vegetables grown on the farm at Lone Pine Colony to the Calgary Farmers’ Market for the summer months to the end of November.
Lone Pine sells a variety of fruit including onion, rhubarb, radishes, beets, peas, beans, potatoes, corn, carrots, zucchini, cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli.
Lone Pine does not use chemicals unless necessary and they do all their weeding by hand.
Lone Pine also has a grain farm, dairy products and raises poultry such as ducks and geese. These items however are not available at the market.
Lone Pine Colony currently consists of 17 families. In their colony when there become over 140 to 150 people a new colony is formed at a different location with half of the group.
Sam is the general manager and secretary of Lone Pine Colony.
