Father’s Day Fun and Fundraiser at the Market
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in Canadian men. In Alberta one in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime and eight men die every week of the same disease. When detected early, it is also one of the most successfully treated types of cancer. Our mission this weekend is to help create awareness and raise money to help the Prostate Cancer Center.

Heading up the fund raiser at the market is Dave at Totalitea The Tea Boutique. He along with his daughter Joy and long time friend Colin have been collecting pledges and will be shaving their heads on Father’s Day at 1pm on the stage. Joy and Colin’s hair will be donated to Angel’s Hair for Children to create wigs for children fighting cancer. To help raise money please visit Totalitea The Tea Boutique this weekend to donate. Dave will be accepting donations at pledges at his booth all weekend. All proceeds will go to the Prostate Cancer Center and all pledges over $10 will receive a tax receipt.

The Prostate Cancer Center will have The Man Van on site parked at the Main SE Entrance on Sunday June 19th 11am- 2pm. They will be providing complimentary blood screening tests to men over 40. These tests help provide insight into your risk for prostate cancer. They will also be selling boxers to help raise money. What a perfect gift to give your father or husband.

Now for the fun part of the weekend, on Sunday we will be giving away 200 snack bags filled with beer nuts to the first 200 Dad’s at the market. Attached to those giveaways will be an entry form for them to enter to win Dad themed gift baskets. These baskets will include Calgary Farmers’ Market aprons, mugs, market bucks and vendor products. Come on down and make sure your Dad enters to win.

We look forward to seeing you this weekend and Happy Father’s Day!
