About the Market

Our New Location

On April 21st 2011 the Calgary Farmers’ Market opened our new location and permanent home just off Blackfoot Trail and Heritage Drive. The opening of the new market was a great success and a celebration of growth in the local food market and support for local business.

The market was built to be family friendly and a dynamic place for community engagement. With over 80 vendors supplying customers with fresh local produce, art, meat, poultry, international food, organic goods , jewelry and more. Beyond the amazing vendors the market is also features a stunning glass atrium, a larger and more dynamic food court, free standing fireplaces, stroller parking, an interactive children’s play area, larger aisles, and extensive free parking all around the building.

The new location has been a great success with about 20,000 people visiting every week. We are glad to see lots of new faces from our new neighborhood and many familiar faces coming every week to enjoy the local food and products. Come visit us this week and take the farm home with you.

Who We are & Our History

The ABC Farmers' Market Society was founded in April 2003, as a non-profit society. The "ABC" in the society's name is for the Alberta and British Columbia farmers who make up the society.

The society consists of an 80 per cent majority of vendors who either make it, bake it or grow it. This is one of the many ways the society maintains its status as an Alberta approved farmers' market.

The market was opened July 3, 2004 and has been a great success. The market has more than one million visitors each year from all around the world. We pride ourselves on providing a venue where Calgarians can get the best local food and products available. But the Calgary Farmers' Market is so much more than that. We provide you with an experience, a place to meet friends and family, a place to make new friends with your local tomato farmer or jewellery maker. We provide a home for our vendors, and a home for your families.

The Calgary Farmers' Market was reviewed by a delegation from the North America Farm Direct Marketing Association in 2007 who later declared that the CFM is The best planned farmers market on the continent.

The Calgary Farmers' Market also scored top honours at the 2005 Growing Alberta Leadership Awards (GALA), winning the Economic Development Award. Further, John Gilchrist, a local food critic and legendary journalist also came out singing the praises of the CFM adding it to the top spot among his new restaurants and food outlets list for every year since we opened. Fast Forward Weekly has named the CFM Best farmers' market for the past 4 consecutive years. Readers of the Calgary Herald voted the Calgary Farmers' Market as the best farmers market in 2010.
